(More customer reviews)I bought this watch for my better half for his birthday. It's held up quite well; we haven't had to have it polished and it has stayed in nearly mint condition, despite his taking it on and off. He bike commutes and sometimes works in an architectural woodshop, and hasn't managed to scratch or break it yet. The picture does not do this watch justice. It is a truly beautiful sculptural timepiece. You can see all the working of the watch ticking away from the front and back, all the little gears whirling about.
He has gotten sooooo many compliments on it... one of my girlfriends pulled me aside and begged me to tell her where I bought it, because it was the perfect "man-gift". Our vet stopped mid sentence to say "that is the neatest watch I've ever seen". Most of our male friends want to know where they can get this watch for themselves; most of our female friends want to know where they can get this watch to give it to their husbands/boyfriends.
If you're quirky, technical, and the type of person that appreciates precision and "how things work" (e.g. architect... engineer... etc) this is a fabulous "statement" piece.
A few negatives... this watch doesn't have a large engraving area, so if you're getting it for a birthday/anniversary gift, that's a slight negative. You can wind the watch by hand if you don't wear it every day, but it needs a bit of movement to keep going. Lastly, there is no indicator of how much "juice" the watch has. I have a women's citizen ecodrive, and it starts ticking every 2 seconds when it really needs to be charged up.
The negatives don't detract from the watch... I know he loves this piece more than a normal engraved watch, and he wears it every day, so the "charging" issues are really not that bad. But for some, they might matter.
